Kratom & Weed – 5 Key Facts You Need To Know

Both kratom and weed have existed for hundreds of years. Weed, in comparison to kratom, has been researched well and is popular for quite a time now.

In contrast, the popularity of kratom has spread like wildfire in recent times. Let us discuss both of them in detail.

    What Is Weed?

Weed, also called marijuana or cannabis, is considered to be one of humankind’s oldest cultivated plants. It comes from a plant native to Central Asia, which contains a lot of compounds, including cannabinoids.

One of the compounds, Delta 9 tetrahydrocannabinol, commonly known as THC, is the psychoactive compound responsible for many of the desirable weed effects, such as euphoria, feeling light and high.

Weed has a long history with evidence of being used for medicinal purposes dating back to 4000 B.C. History attests the use of weed by the Chinese Emperor, Shen Neng, in 2737 B.C. primarily to treat gout and malaria.

Humans have been using the cannabis plant for at least 8000 years. In the past, the cannabis plant was also used for making clothes and ropes.

    What Is Kratom?

Mitragyona Speciosa, commonly known as kratom, comes from an evergreen plant of the coffee family native to Southeast Asia.

The key components of kratom that are primarily responsible for many of the kratom effects are its constituent alkaloids.

Kratom, though has gained popularity recently, it has a very long history with traces of it being used primarily in the region of Southeast Asia.

Did the brief introduction get you curious to know more about weed and kratom?

Well, let us discuss a few facts regarding both:

Fact 1 – Weed Is Psychoactive While Kratom Is Not

Weed or marijuana contains Delta 9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which fundamentally is psychoactive.

This mind-altering component impacts your brain receptors and can have various impacts on your body.

Thus, by affecting your brain, it can cause depression, provoke suicidal thinking, cause mood swings, etc.

It even affects your abilities, such as movement, posture, thinking, concentration, and alters senses, including the sense of smell, hearing, and taste.

THC stimulates the release of dopamine, a neurotransmitter responsible for the feeling of pleasure.

This induces euphoria giving the user a deep sense of relaxation and excitement. Thus, due to the presence of THC, weed can induce hallucinations too.

On the other hand, kratom is not psychoactive. Even at higher doses, kratom can only induce a high like feeling with a rush of euphoria.

At lower doses, kratom produces a stimulating effect, which provides the consumer with calm and soothing effects.

This is because kratom does not contain THC. Instead, it contains alkaloids, the two most active and abundant alkaloids being mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine.

Thus kratom is generally used to relieve pain and fatigue, tackle insomnia, and in general, for boosting and calming effects. It cannot induce hallucinations or alter your mind and senses in any way.

Fact 2 – Kratom and Weed Both Reduce Pain. However, Which One To Use Depends Upon The Type Of Pain

Did you know there are two types of pain?

Your body pain can be of two different types. And depending upon the type, you will have to choose between weed and kratom to relieve your pain.

What are the two types of pain?

    1. Nociceptive Pain
    2. Neuropathic Pain

Nociceptive pain refers to the pain arising from any physical damage and is primarily prompted by chemical, inflammation, or any physical event.

In this case, the sensory system of your body quickly responds to the hurtful stimuli. Examples of events causing such pain are fractures, broken nose, etc. Such pain is reported to be sharp and intense.

Kratom works well with the nociceptive pain. So next time, if you come across someone with physical injury, a broken nose, or arm using weed for pain, tell them kratom is better at this.

Neuropathic pain, also known as nerve pain, refers to the pain that develops when the nervous system gets damaged due to disease, infection, or injury.

Examples of diseases that can cause such pain are, but not limited to, diabetes, stroke, cancer, and multiple sclerosis. The pain is said to feel like a burning sensation and is often regarded as ‘shooting’ pain.

Marijuana is considered to be the ideal fit as opposed to kratom to manage neuropathic pain. For instance, if somebody has cancer, diabetes, or multiple sclerosis, marijuana can be used to relieve this sort of pain.

Fact 3 – Weed Is Generally Smoked, Whereas Kratom Is Not. Have You Ever Wondered Why?

Although traditionally, people used to chew kratom leaves, nowadays, powder and liquid forms are more common. You may have noticed that kratom is generally mixed with some other foods.

To name a few, kratom honey balls and kratom tea are quite famous. Using the kratom capsule is another popular way of taking your kratom.

In no instance, kratom needs to be heated to feel its effects. Weed or marijuana is consumed in several ways; however, unlike kratom, all of them have one thing in common: heat.

Heat is necessary to initiate the process known as decarboxylation, which will result in the formation of THC. Heat is so essential that without it, you would not get much high, nor will the effects of weed kick in.

Fact 4 – Legal Status – Kraton vs. Weed

Kratom’s legal status is more lenient than that of the weed. Although kratom is banned in some of the American states and a few other countries, it is legal across most of the globe. Although weed is legal for medicinal purposes in 33 states of the U.S., federally, it is banned.

In fact, the recreational use of weed is banned in almost the majority of the world. So even where marijuana or weed is legal, you will need a medical prescription to get your hands on it LEGALLY.
Another important factor is the lab testing. Cannabis (weed) is bound to be tested every time.

However, no such restriction applies to kratom as of now. That is why we will highly recommend you to buy lab-tested kratom from trusted vendors only.

So at the end of the day, kratom wins in terms of availability, restrictions, and legality.

Fact 5 – It Is Unlikely That Overdosing Weed or Kratom Can Result In Death

Well, as far as overdosing weed is considered, the odds of fatality are pretty narrow. As far as kratom is considered, there is no concrete evidence in favor of or against its effect on mortality.

Though a few deaths have been reported due to kratom overdose, all of them included consuming kratom with alcohol or other drugs, like opioids, gabapentin, etc. So high dosage of kratom alone has low or no chances of killing a person.

However, do not forget that pre-existing conditions or illnesses can boost up the fatality in cases of overdose.

Even though overdosing kratom or weed doesn’t kill, it is still recommended not to overdose, considering the negative effects arising from overdosage of weed and kratom both.

Kratom overdosage can cause nausea, agitation, dry mouth, drowsiness, high blood pressure, and can even get as severe as seizure, liver toxicity, and psychosis.

This all gets worse as there is no evidence or study to understand the full extent of the negative effects of a kratom overdose.

Overdosing on weed can cause an increase in heart rate, headache, hallucinations, panic attacks, paranoia, etc.

To conclude, both weed and kratom have the potential to adversely affect the mental and physical well being, if taken in excessive amounts.

Well, a lot of you are a fan of both kratom and marijuana. Have you ever wondered about mixing them both and enjoying the combo?

    Mixing Kratom and Weed

People have gotten creative and time and again combined weed with other drugs or herbs like Kava.
With the increasing popularity and use of kratom, people are starting to mix them both.

    So How Is It?

Together they make a perfect combo. The boosting, calming, and soothing effects of the combination, take you high above the sky into the peaceful heaven.

As kratom is a weaker drug, the higher dose of marijuana will pretty much cover for the effects of kratom.

Both drugs cause sedation, so be prepared to feel lazy and dizzy. The combo will give you a rush of euphoria like none other. What’s better than a happy, peaceful vacation-like day!

How To Mix Kratom and Marijuana?

It is recommended to use a lower dosage of marijuana than kratom. Start by taking kratom by any method, whether by drinking kratom tea or taking kratom capsules. After 1 to 2 hours, enjoy smoking your marijuana.

Keep in mind to lower the dosage of both when taking together as compared to taking each standalone as the combination of drugs in excess may lead to harmful effects.

So What Are The Medicinal Effects Of Using The Combo?

Both marijuana and kratom are popular for relieving pain. The combo will help you tackle insomnia, post-surgical pain, fibromyalgia, neck stiffness, etc. Other than that, it will induce euphoria, help fight arthritis, insomnia, and stress.

Both of these drugs are a better alternative to other drugs considering their medicinal benefits. However, depending upon your pain or a medical condition, you will have to choose between the two.

Even if you are using for recreational purposes, both kratom and weed have some different effects. Kratom is generally a weaker herb and would not get you high as taking weed would do.

With all the details and secrets in your mind, feel free to enjoy these natural organic herbs. However, take it into consideration where you live as this impacts the legality of these drugs.

Relax, get high, and soothe your nerves as you wish!
